AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX - RACE
The McLaren Honda team left the 2017 Austrian Grand Prix empty handed, after Fernando Alonso suffered from an on-track incident and Stoffel Vandoorne was unable to maximise the potential of his Spec 3 engine. Alonso barely turned a wheel in anger, after he became the victim of a first corner shunt. The Spanish driver managed to recover the car back to the pits but there was too much damage and his race was over. Stoffel Vandoorne did race from lights to flag and at times was battling for a points-paying position. Unfortunately, running in dirty air for most of the Grand Prix meant he couldn't show the car's true potential, and he eventually finished in P12. With the British Grand Prix just a week away, the team will now need to turn things around quickly to be race ready for Silverstone.
