2017 BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX – RACE
It was disappointment in the desert for McLaren Honda, as the team left the Bahrain Grand Prix with neither driver completing the race distance. The team detected a water-pressure issue on Vandoorne's car on the way to the grid and they had no choice but to return to the garage, ending Stoffel's race before it had even started. Fernando was able to compete at the Sakhir circuit, and enjoyed plenty of wheel-to-wheel action with the cars around him. He spent much of the race just outside the points but reported something unusual from the cockpit with only two laps to go. The team elected to retire his car as a precaution and the Spaniard was unable to see the chequered flag.
