CANADIAN GRAND PRIX - RACE
It’s was a difficult day for the McLaren-Honda team at the Canadian Grand Prix, as the promise of a World Championship point disappeared just 3 laps from the end of the race. Both Fernando and Stoffel did well to avoid a first-lap crash, as cars spun off the track around them. Indeed, the drivers benefited from the on-track incidents and were both running in the points as the race unfolded. Alonso maintained his position during the pit stops, whilst Vandoorne was unlucky to lose ground during a VSC period. Unfortunately, with the chequered flag almost in sight, Fernando suffered a race-ending oil pressure loss, and he was forced to retire. Stoffel did continue to the flag, eventually crossing the line in 14th place.
