HUNGARIAN GRAND PRIX - RACE
McLaren Honda capped off a great Budapest weekend with a double points finish at the 2017 Hungarian Grand Prix. Fernando Alonso drove a faultless race, battling for position with the Toro Rosso of Carlos Sainz in the opening laps, before making the pass on fresh tyres after the pitstop. Alonso, celebrating his 36th birthday this weekend, took the chequered flag in P6 and even picked up an extra present of the fastest lap of the race. Team mate Stoffel Vandoorne also performed well at the Hungaroring. He avoided the first lap incidents and spent much of the race in a mid-field fight with the Force India cars. Stoffel finished in P10, securing a valuable point for himself and for the team.
