UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX - RACE
The McLaren-Honda team left the Circuit of the Americas empty handed, after a frustrating 2017 United States Grand Prix saw them finish outside of the points. Starting from P8 on the grid, Fernando Alonso hooked up a great getaway from the lights. He made a pass for position in the early laps and was able to keep pace with the cars around him. Unfortunately, a technical issue cut his race short and he was forced to retire on lap 24. Stoffel Vandoorne had an action packed race in Austin. Starting from the back of the grid, and on a different tyre strategy, Vandoorne managed to fight his way up to the fringes of the top ten. Despite having more pace than the cars in front, he was unable to get ahead and into a points paying position. Stoffel eventually crossed the line in P12.
