Business Admin

Senior Engineer IT x2, 6 months FTC

Honda Racing and Development are looking for two highly skilled, motivated and experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineers or System Administrators on 6mths FTC in there Milton Keynes office to work on various projects for the internal infrastructure and a forthcoming migration from Swindon to Milton Keynes. The role will mainly be working on infrastructure projects but some 3rd line support will be required and occasional cover for more junior staff.

ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

ESS Engineer

The role of ESS Engineer is based within the Electronics Engineering Group. The main purpose of the role is to take responsibility for the design and development of the primary the BMS (Battery Management System) unit (VTBM board: the board monitor and report cell voltage and temperature and have balancing function, and Battery management System unit) and high voltage safety components (Fuse, Contactor) development.

ESS Engineer define the requirement and specification of BMS unit and high voltage safety components from ESS requirement. lf the development is worked with supplier or outsourcing, ESS Engineer take the responsibility for managing and leading the project.

ESS Engineer define the interface of Battery monitoring and management system with software team to ESS and the other unit. ESS Engineer make the test procedure of proof of concept, performance, and durability for R&D test engineer and technician, and analyse the data from test result and make the report of the test. Additionally, ESS Engineer have responsibility for research program of future development.

High Voltage System Engineer

The role of High Voltage System Engineer is based within the Energy Storage System (ESS) development project. The main purpose of the role is to take responsibility for the system level design and development of the primary power electronics units including inverter, converter (high voltage DC to low voltage DC) other subsystems (e.g. contactor, fuse that in HV circuit) as well as fault investigation and setting countermeasures during the ESS pack production stage or sign-off process. 

HV System Engineer is also responsible for fault analysis and investigation of the ESS pack at factory after races or test use, addressing any consequent countermeasures and conducting the following action within the team.

SYSTEMS ENGINEERING

Control Systems Engineers x2

The purpose of the role is to develop on board control software for the ESS battery and other systems supporting Honda's Formula 1 programme in order to ensure that performance and reliability targets are met. This role is accountable for all aspects of ESS software from initial concept, simulation study and architecture to software development and verification including all the necessary tools, equipment and process.

ERS Test Engineer

Honda is seeking 2 ERS Test Engineer's to join the business on a permanent basis based in Milton Keynes. The purpose of this role is to work within the Energy Recovery System (ERS) development and testing team, taking responsibility for component, subsystem and system level testing of primary high voltage circuit, inverter, dc-dc converter and overarching battery management system. It is responsibility of this engineer to define test procedures, test equipment and carry out analysis of test data to identify issues before they could occur at the track. Methodical approach to fault finding, troubleshooting and implementation of countermeasures is vital in this role. The initial focus of this role will be to support existing ERS test facilities, however, there are opportunities to devise and commission new test equipment.

Energy Storage Systems Engineer

The Energy Storage System Engineer will work within the Energy Storage System (ESS) development and production team.  The Energy Storage System Engineer will be responsible for the system level development of the primary high voltage circuit including battery system, battery management system and other subsystems, as well as fault investigation and setting countermeasures during ESS pack production stage or sign-off process. The role is also responsible for fault investigation of the ESS pack at factory, after races or test use, as well as addressing the countermeasures and conducting the follow up actions within the team.

Senior Composites Design Engineer

Honda is seeking a Senior Composites Design Engineer to work within the Energy Storage System design project team working on the Honda F1 project.  Responsibilities include driving the conceptual and detailed design of the ESS pack. This includes the global layout, the enclosure design, both composite and metallic race car parts, any manufacturing tooling required, experimental parts, rig testing and calculations/experimentation. As a senior member of the design team you will provide technical leadership as well as guidance to the design team.

Design Engineer

Honda is seeking a Design Engineer to work within the Energy Recovew System design project team working on the Honda F1 project. Responsibilities include conceptual and detailed design of Power Electronics Component such like Motor Power Unit (MPU) and/or PowerSupply Unit (PSU), the cooling system, metallic and composite race car parts including any manufacturing tooling required, experimental parts, rig testing and calculations/experimentation.

Senior Structural Engineer

Honda is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to work within the Energy Storage System (ESS) design team working on the Honda Formula one project. The Senior Structural Engineer will be involved in supporting all aspects of ESS design, which involves creating linear elastic finite element models for both composite laminate and metallic race car parts, cooling system, including any manufacturing tooling required, experimental parts, rig testing and calculations/experimentation.

The Senior Structural Engineer will ensure that the structural designs are modelled and developed accordingly and tested under specified test condition. They will be responsible for ensuring that the ESS passes all essential standards and regulations.

Honda is seeking a Tooling Design Engineer to work within High Performance Battery facility and be responsible for the design of specialised tooling and fixtures for the assembly and build of specialised high voltage battery packs conceptual and detail design of metallic and composite parts required, experimental parts, rig testing and integration of some proprietary electronic/electrical hardware into assemblies and rigs.

Software Engineer, 6 months FTC/Contractor

The purpose of the role is to develop the software for the ESS battery and other systems supporting Honda’s Formula 1 programme in order to ensure that performance and reliability targets are met. This role has a responsibility to update the tool API for the battery development and race support tool. The role will be required to liaise with development teams in Honda-Sakura the supplier and to deliver software according to the schedule defined by Honda management.
