Head of I.T

Located at our Milton Keynes office you will lead the CIS Department of HRD-UK, including managing and developing the CIS team. Working alongside Honda Associates located in Japan will you will review, develop and implement the CIS direction required to support the vision of HRD-UK. A key requirement of this role is to lead and complete the separation of the CIS systems which current support HRD-UK and Honda R&D Europe (UK) Ltd (HRE-UK).  The CIS Department Manager will ensure regular project and outcome reporting to the Senior Management and Executives.

ERS DEVELOPMENT - SYSTEMS ENGINEERING GROUP

Senior ERS System Engineer

The role of Senior ERS System Engineer is based within the Energy Recovery System (ERS) development project. The main purpose of the role is to take responsibility for the energy management simulation of the motor sports vehicle or high performance vehicle including the electrical system and mechanical system. 

Additionally, Senior ERS System Engineer is also responsible for the system design optimised in the restriction of regulation.

Energy Storage Systems Engineer

The Energy Storage System Engineer will work within the Energy Storage System (ESS) development and production team. The Energy Storage System Engineer will be responsible for the system level development of the primary high voltage circuit including battery system, battery management system and other subsystems, as well as fault investigation and setting countermeasures during ESS pack production stage or sign-off process. The role is also responsible for fault investigation of the ESS pack at factory, after races or test use, as well as addressing the countermeasures and conducting the follow up actions within the team.

Control Systems Engineer

The purpose of the role is to develop on board control software for the ESS battery and other systems supporting Honda’s Formula 1 programme in order to ensure that performance and reliability targets are met. This role is accountable for all aspects of ESS software from initial concept, simulation study and architecture to software development and verification including all the necessary tools, equipment and process.

High Voltage Systems Engineer

The role of High Voltage System Engineer is based within the Energy Storage System (ESS) development project. The main purpose of the role is to take responsibility for the system level design and development of the primary power electronics units including inverter, converter (high voltage DC to low voltage DC) other subsystems (e.g. contactor, fuse that in HV circuit) as well as fault investigation and setting countermeasures during the ESS pack production stage or sign-off process.

HV System Engineer is also responsible for fault analysis and investigation of the ESS pack at factory after races or test use, addressing any consequent countermeasures and conducting the following action within the team.

Fuse & Electrical Test Engineer

The purpose of this role is to work within the Energy Storage System (ESS) development and production teams and to be responsible for proof out design concept by testing components of the ESS pack, cooling system, HV system and battery monitoring system, etc. This role is responsible for providing feedback of test results and advice to the design team, as well as designing and testing electrical parts (including harness and PCB) of the ESS programme. This role is also responsible for the test rig and garage equipment for ESS (e.g. Off-Board Charger, System Checker and Cooling Rig, etc).

ERS Development - Development & Testing Group

ERS Test Engineer

Honda is seeking an ERS Test Engineer to join the business on a permanent basis based in Milton Keynes. The purpose of this role is to work within the Energy Recovery System (ERS) development and testing team, taking responsibility for component, subsystem and system level testing of primary high voltage circuit, inverter, dc-dc converter and overarching battery management system. It is responsibility of this engineer to define test procedures, test equipment and carry out analysis of test data to identify issues before they could occur at the track. Methodical approach to fault finding, troubleshooting and implementation of countermeasures is vital in this role. The initial focus of this role will be to support existing ERS test facilities, however, there are opportunities to devise and commission new test equipment.

ERS Development - Materials Group

Battery Chemistry & Cell Testing Engineer

Honda is seeking an experienced Battery Chemistry & Cell Testing Engineer to work for the Material & Battery Engineering Group of Energy Recovery System (ERS) Development on the Honda Formula 1 project. This role will be involved in supporting Energy Storage System (ESS) design, which involves from initial idea with chemical, electrical and mechanical through the end of life of the battery in race and cooling system, including issues solving and failure analysis. In addition, this role will ensure that the conceptual cell specification from the chemical and electrical point of view are defined and developed accordingly and tested under the specified test condition.

This role is not only for battery cell development but also for the whole ESS project. That means this role should take responsibility for delivering some material solutions to meet and exceed performance targets, fault investigation and setting countermeasures from the material engineering point of view.

ERS Development - Mechanical Engineering Group

Senior Composites Design Engineer

Honda is seeking a Senior Composites Design Engineer to work within the Energy Storage System design project team working on the Honda F1 project. Responsibilities include driving the conceptual and detailed design of the ESS pack. This includes the global layout, the enclosure design, both composite and metallic race car parts, any manufacturing tooling required, experimental parts, rig testing and calculations/experimentation. As a senior member of the design team you will provide technical leadership as well as guidance to the design team.
