Pre-season testing concluded with Aston Martin Red Bull Racing just 0.073s adrift of the fastest time on the final day in Barcelona.
Alex drove during the morning session and was the only driver to set his best lap on the C3 compound - right in the middle of the Pirelli range - after completing some aero testing early on. After a productive 59 laps, he handed over to Max who was able to complete more performance running later in the afternoon. A best time of 1:16.269 on the C4 tyre left Max within 0.1s of Valtteri Bottas as the Mercedes used the softer C5, ending an encouraging test for Red Bull. There was also strong mileage for Scuderia AlphaTauri on Friday, as Daniil drove the full day and completed 160 laps. As well as some useful long running, the C4 tyre was also used as part of some lower fuel stints and saw Daniil register a 1:16.914. After six busy days of testing, development work continues in Sakura and Milton Keynes in preparation for the opening race in Australia on March 15.
