The second day of testing here in Barcelona was an important one for our two drivers, given that both Pierre Gasly and Alex Albon were having their first full day of testing with their new teams and, in the case of the Toro Rosso man, it was also his first proper day of running in a Formula 1 car.
Sticking with Alex for a moment, his day got off to the worst possible start, as he spun on cold tyres, something far more experienced drivers have also done here. Fortunately, no damage was done and he went on to complete the second highest number of laps of the day. So no fitness problem clearly. In the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing camp, work continued not only on evaluating the new car but also on the car and PU suppliers learning to work together. On this front, everything seems to be going smoothly. Towards the end of the day, Pierre went off the track, hitting the barrier fairly hard with the back end of the car, which lost him a little bit of track time. Tomorrow, sees the return of Daniil Kvyat and Max Verstappen to their respective cockpits.
